Advance Wardlaw Fundraising Campaign - Projects

As we strive for excellence in education and our school continues to thrive, we are excited to launch our Advance Wardlaw Fundraising Campaign. We are undertaking this capital campaign to fund special projects for several facility upgrades important for current and future operations of the school. These special projects span all areas needed for educating students to meet our mission statement of partnering with parents to develop the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, physical, and leadership potential of each student. As each project is detailed below, please consider donating to the special project of interest to you or by making a general donation to our Advancement Fund. Student Technology

Integrating technology into the curriculum provides opportunities for collaborative and self-directed learning activities that would not otherwise be possible. At Wardlaw Academy, we are harnessing these opportunities at all ages and throughout all grade levels. Technology is ever-changing so to ensure our students and teachers have access to the most up-to-date technology devices and tools, funds are needed to purchase new laptops, projection boards for classrooms, presentation televisions for professional development, and printing equipment for student assignments and projects. 

The fundraising goal for new student technology is $25,000.

New Metal Awnings

With new metal awnings for our lower school building, over upper school sidewalks to portable classrooms, and at the school entrances, the following benefits will be evident for our students, staff, parents, and visitors to the school: Reduction of energy costs, protection from sun, wind, and rain, and an updated look to the school exterior of the building. Currently, students and staff are exposed to weather elements without the proper cover needed. In addition, energy efficiency will be increased and energy costs will be decreased.

The fundraising goal for new metal awnings is $40,000.

Press Box and Bleacher Upgrades

Wardlaw Academy has a strong athletic program and very active fan base involved in utilizing our sports facilities through the press box and bleachers surrounding the fields. After several years of use, the press box on the football field and bleachers around the various fields are in need of upgrades for safety and aesthetics. In conjunction with the Booster Club, funds are needed for structural improvements as well as cosmetic upgrades. 

The fundraising goal for the press box and bleacher upgrades is $50,000.

New Gym Floor

The gym floor is a multi-use space for school events, assemblies, and academic ceremonies. The new gym floor will improve the look of the space for hosting these events. In addition, with a new gym floor, the following factors will be improved for our student athletes and visiting athletic teams.

Shock Absorption:  Measures the floor’s ability to reduce the force of impact. Increased shock absorption translates to a safer floor, reducing the risk of long-term injuries.

Vertical Deformation:  Measures the floor’s ability to deform or “give” when an athlete jumps or falls. Too much “give” is like running on sand and is unstable, while too little may result in immediate injuries on impact or falls.

Ball Bounce:   Measures the accuracy of the vertical ball behavior. The higher and more uniform the ball rebound, the better playability.

Sliding Effect:  Also referred to as coefficient of friction or slip-and-slide. It is the floor’s optimal level of grip and slide in all directions and allows for safe and easy movement or pivoting.

The fundraising goal for the new gym floor is $65,000. 

Paved Parking

The special project of paving the gym parking lot and upper student parking lot has many benefits for our school including safe and clean parking spots for school days and events, improved traffic patterns around the campus, and improved drainage in parking lots. As our school continues to grow, the need for paving will allow for more parking spaces as well as improved carline accesses. In working with the South Carolina DOT, the lots and surrounding areas will be redesigned and resurfaced to ensure the benefits listed above at the completion of the project.

The fundraising goal for paved parking is $100,000. 

Weight Room/Field House Addition

The new weight room and field house would include a new structure specifically designed for all athletic programs at Wardlaw Academy. The new facility would provide space for indoor workouts and practices, state-of-the-art meeting spaces for athletic teams with seating, lighting, and projection technology, and dedicated weight equipment and space for all athletes.

The fundraising goal for the weight room/field house is $250,000.
