Join horticulturist Julie Bare to learn about crafting an edible container garden that will have you eating well all season long. Julie will cover a wide variety of vegetables and herbs that are well suited to growing in containers, as well as a few fruiting shrubs and other hardy plants that can also be grown in containers. She will give you tips on maintaining the plantings by reviewing soil conditions, different types of containers, fertilizers, and more.
Julie Bare describes herself as a plant nerd! She has been hooked on plants ever since taking horticulture 101 for fun her freshman year of college. She graduated from Temple University-Ambler with a degree in horticulture in 2012. In 2014, Julie became the Estate Gardener at PHS Meadowbrook Farm where she maintains the gardens surrounding the house. She is a Horticourt exhibitor at the Philadelphia Flower Show, the newsletter editor for the Liberty Bell Gesneriad Society, and the Director of Women in Horticulture.
