The FFA Motto states, “Learning to Do, Doing to Lean, Earning to Live, Living to Serve”. Throughout their lives, Jim East and Johnny Jones lived a life full of love and service. Their dedication to supporting the future of Georgia’s agriculture and youth was felt by anyone who ever wore the blue corduroy FFA Jacket as a member.

Jimmy Ray EastMarch 25th, 1946 – November 29th, 2020Mr. East actively volunteered and contributed many hours in support of agriculture, agricultural education, and the FFA. He was instrumental in organizing the Miller County FFA Alumni. In addition to serving on the Executive Council of the Miller County FFA Alumni, he served as president of the Georgia FFA Alumni and received numerous awards, including the Georgia Outstanding Alumni Member, National Alumni Achievement Award, and National Legion of Merit Citations. Mr. East also received honorary FFA degrees at the local, state, and national levels. Through his leadership with the FFA alumni, he formed friendships across the nation and touched the hearts of many young FFA members across Georgia.Johnny F. JonesNovember 23rd, 1952– September 7th, 2021Mr. Jones served as the Charter President of the Toombs County FFA Alumni chapter; served in several positions on the Georgia FFA Alumni Council, including president; and as the Southeast Representative for the National FFA Alumni Council, where he was awarded the Honorary American Degree. During his high school and collegiate years he was active in Future Farmers of America and earned numerous awards, including the prestigious American Farmer Degree. Because of Johnny's service and love for agriculture, he made an impact on every FFA member he met.
All donations made in memory of Jim East and/or Johnny Jones will be used to fund the “Cabin Room Dedication in Memory of Jim East and Johnny Jones” at Camp John Hope led by the Georgia FFA Alumni Association.
