DePaul Catholic Kathleen Walsh Softball Field

All proceeds from this event benefit the Kathleen Walsh Scholarship Fund. This fund provides a college scholarship to a DePaul Catholic graduating senior who best embodies the spirit of Kathleen - the student, the athlete, the leader - just as the DePaul Catholic Community will always remember Kathleen.

Kathleen was a gift to all who knew her and touched the lives of many who never had the good fortune of meeting her. A native of Totowa, Kathleen was just 20 years old when God called her to Himself on December 17, 2003 following complications from knee surgery. Her parents, Kevin and Darlene, and her siblings, Kevin and Kelly, remember her vibrant smile, her playful nature, her unwavering dedication to everything she touched… and her passion for the New York Yankees. Kathleen was a stellar athlete. At DePaul she played soccer and softball all four years, and was a member of the swim team. In her senior year, Kathleen captained her soccer team and was named the 2002 Athlete of the Year. Outside of DP, she participated in several club sports, such as NJ Shilohs Softball and NJ Maroon Indoor Soccer. Kathleen’s life was more than athletics. A graduate of St. James Elementary School, she was a lector at the Parish and its first female alter server. At DP, Kathleen was a member of he National Honor Society, a Peer Minister, and a Eucharistic Minister. As a senior, she received a leadership award from the US military Academy at West Point. After DP, Kathleen attended TCNJ on an academic scholarship. She majored in biology and served as captain of TCNJ’s Women’s Club Soccer. Her dream was to become a team doctor for the NY Yankees. Kathleen was a spirited, fun-loving, outgoing, beautiful girl. Her memory lives on through The Kathleen Walsh Scholarship created in 2004.
