Officer Robert German Memorial Endowed Award

Officer Robert "Robbie" German, a five year veteran of the Windermere Police Department and a 2007 graduate of the Seminole State College of Florida Criminal Justice Academy, was killed in the line of duty March 22, 2014.

"Officer German's tragic death is a grim reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers and other first responders face each day while carrying out their duties," said Jim Lee, associate dean of the Center for Public Safety. "We are proud to have known Officer German, and we here at Seminole State College extend our sincere sympathies to his family and the men and women of the Windermere Police Department."

"Officer German was well-known and well-liked … one of those men who would take the time to stop and talk to people, and that's one of the reasons he said he liked working in Windermere because he could do just that," Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn told the Orlando Sentinel.

The Officer Robert German Endowed Memorial Award was created through the Foundation by the German family. Tim German said the award recognizes “the qualities and character that we need in law enforcement today.

The Award will be given twice annually, with one recipient per graduation.
