PLEASE NOTE: This is a competitive application process. Although we do our best to honor each applicant, we are not always able to meet demand due to capacity. Selection criteria include need, demographics, funding, and level of partner commitment.

Stories that Soar! Programs
  Beginning with an invitation from our "hungry" Magic box for children to "feed me stories," Stories that Soar! motivates and excites children to explore the power of writing. With our ensemble of multi-skilled, professional adult actors transforming selected stories into innovate theatrical productions, the entire school community is positively impacts by placing literacy, creativity, and youth empowerment center stage. 14 residencies available Tucson Metro Area: $6,000 total production cost/$2,500 minimum fee Outside Tucson Metro: $7,000 total production cost/$4,000 minimum fee  
  Using the model of the STS! professional theatre company, high school drama students transform elementary students' original stories into dynamic theatrical productions. In addition to honing creative skills in playwriting, directing, and acting, high school students learn transferable skills in collaboration, communication, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and analysis. This intergenerational project strengthens school district connection while providing community service opportunities for teens through literacy and the performing arts. $3,700 total program cost. $2,500 Elementary/$1,200 High School The above are suggested fee allocations. Fees may be divided as determined by elementary and high school partners.  
  Modeled on the collaborative process used by the professional STS! ensemble, StoryShare places K-12 students in roles of playwright, actor, director, and designer as they bring their own stories to life. StoryShare aligns with Academic Standards in reading comprehension, writing, speaking and listening, and is designed to intentionally teach the 21st Century skills of collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity. Residencies are flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of schools, individual classrooms, or out-of-school programs. Fee is determined by number of sessions/hours contracted.
