About WhidbeyHealth Foundation

The WhidbeyHealth Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1981 with a gift from the Waterman Medical Foundation to improve patient outcomes and their experience at WhidbeyHealth. Bud and Margaret Waterman started WhidbeyHealth Foundation (then the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation) with a gift to the hospital after Bud passed in 1981. Annual donations from the Waterman Medical Foundation continue under the stewardship of the Waterman family to this day.


  • For 43 years, the foundation has served as an advocate to improving the health and well-being of the community and as a financial resource to WhidbeyHealth by leveraging philanthropy.
  • 97% of each dollar donated is used to purchase equipment, improve facilities, and enhance training for the medical team and employees. (Tax ID: 91-1147024)
