Hi everyone! My name is Brittani Smith, and I am a sister of Theta Phi Alpha at Trine University. A large reason I chose to join Theta Phi was because of our emphasis on philanthropy. The largest event we are involved in is Big Man on Campus, BMOC. This event is a male pageant that raises money for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. This year I have the privilege and honor of being selected as the BMOC Chairman for the 2017-18 school year. 

BMOC is a male pageant where men in various organizations around campus volunteer to participate. Leading up to the pageant night, the men participate in various fundraising events. They raise money through penny wars the week leading up, and the top fundraisers earn points toward their pageant night score. They also participate in war night, which includes events like dizzy bat, tug-of-war, three legged race, and a high heeled obstacle course. Pageant night has 5 different events including formal wear, talent, speaking about a person they admire, pick up lines, and lastly question and answer. The male with the highest score from our judges will be crowned Mr. BMOC 2018.

BMOC is a very fun event, but we make sure to always remember why we are putting it on. Raising money for such a great cause truly makes all of the time and effort worthwhile. 

We raised just under $12,000 last year. Our hope and goal as an organization is to exceed that goal this year and we hope to get a large portion of it from online donations. My sisterhood could not do this without all of the support and love from our family, friends, and anyone touched by cancer in whatever way.
