Please consider joining us in our efforts by donating to the Bucks County Opportunity Council. Together we can truly make a difference in the lives of those in poverty right here in our community. If you have questions on our new “Bridge Builders” Circle, or other programs at the Opportunity Council, please feel free to call me at your convenience.
We recently shared with you some statistics on the number of people who have been helped by the Bucks County Opportunity Council: 345 graduates of our Economic Self-sufficiency Program; 71,910 visits to our food centers; 419 families more comfortable in their homes and trailers because of our weatherization team; 1,194 emergency calls that prevented homelessness; 1,097 who saved money using our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
Unfortunately, those numbers were followed up recently by the latest U.S. Census stating that poverty in Bucks County has increased in the last year: 40,818 people live in poverty; 8,903 are children.
Our dedicated staff and volunteers have truly made a difference helping those in need. But as we have grown and learned what works to fight poverty, we have stretched beyond our financial capacity to reach everyone who needs our help.
To meet this growing need, we have re-dedicated ourselves to expanding our reach. And to assist us in this effort, we are introducing a new giving program, the “Bridge Builders” Circle, that will provide ongoing support to help us plan and grow. Donors who commit to a monthly donation will join the “Bridge Builders” Circle, and be recognized in our Annual Report. As the Circle grows, we will send you regular updates on our progress and results.
