Sgt. Mark Johnson IV

Honor Sgt. Mark Johnson IV and Continue his Legacy of Helping Others

As a devoted son, loyal brother, loving husband and father, dedicated Seminole State alumnus, and valiant Marine, Sgt. Mark Johnson IV always put others before himself. Mark was tragically killed in a helicopter accident in 2015 during a humanitarian relief mission to help victims devastated by back-to-back earthquakes in Nepal.

Prior to joining the military in 2009,  he attended Seminole State College of Florida, where he earned an Associate in Science (A.S.) in Automotive Service Management Technology in 2005 and an Associate in arts (A.A.) degree in December 2008.

A native of Altamonte Springs, Sgt. Johnson loved the beach, biking, and most importantly, his wife and two young children.

Sgt. Johnson was proud to serve his country. His deployments include 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Sahayogi Haat.  He was highly decorated and honored with the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Air Medal with Strike/Flight 5, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two bronze stars, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Certificate of Commendation, NATO Medal and a Meritorious Mast.

In celebration of Sgt. Johnson's altruistic spirit, Sgt. Johnson's family has established the Sgt. Mark Johnson IV Memorial Endowed Scholarship, which will provide financial assistance to current personnel and military veterans who attend Seminole State College. This scholarship is awarded every year during Seminole State College's annual Veterans Day ceremony.

Please join us in continuing Sgt. Johnson's legacy by donating to the Sgt. Mark Johnson IV Memorial Endowed Scholarship and help inspire students to go out into the world and give their best to others.
